MAC AND ME ( 1988 )
This amazingly awful E.T. rip-off displays what happens when movies meet marketing synergy. This movie’s hero is in a wheelchair and the alien sidekick is about as convincing as a sock puppet. The screenplay touches on every major E.T. plot point. McDonalds and Coca-Cola put up much of the money for M&M, which becomes quite obvious from the very beginning. This alien’s name is no mistake. Mac is energized by Coke and Skittles (rather than, say, Reece’s Pieces) and there’s a musical number in a McDonalds, complete with an appearance by Ronald(!) It’s a jaw-dropper worthy of a night’s rental and full heckling treatment. The end promises, “We’ll be back!” – Yeah, not so much. Remember kids; be like MAC. Consume!

  1. ever read the book syrup? it’s about an in-house ad team working for coca-cola and making a full length feature film starring- you guessed it COKE! son of a bitch, i never thought anyone who actually commit such a travesty…

  2. I wonder what would have happened if they’d given the little monsters pepsi.
