ILSA: THE WICKED WARDEN aka Greta the Torturer aka Wanda, the Wicked Warden (1977)
Essentially your basic WIP movie, but with that diabolically sadistic Ilsa edge. Not really an Ilsa movie at all, the title was changed before release. Any reference to Dyane Thorn’s character has been looped into agreement with the new title. Thorn is doing her Ilsa thing though, no matter what her character’s name. A woman poses as an inmate to rescue her wrongfully accused sister from a mental institution slash prison(?). It doesn’t go so well. Ilsa is selling black market rape and torture films featuring inmates to a sleazy dealer. There’s lots of graphic torture and plenty of exposed flesh – for better or worse. This is my favorite Ilsa incarnation and, despite its offenses, it’s easier to sit through than She Devil of the SS. The final comeuppance for Ilsa at the hands of her prisoners must be seen to be believed.
