DEEP BLUE SEA, THE (1999)
Genetically mutated sharks are on the loose and smarter than you think. If you can forgive the dated CGI you might find yourself a little on edge at the suspenseful set pieces. Some scientists and engineers are terrorized by super sharks that can sniff you out and swallow you whole. It’s a pretty thin and very familiar story but the action hits the mark in the second half. Samuel L. Jackson is responsible for the movie’s best surprise, which doubles as the film’s funniest moment. DBS is definitely worth the time for people disappointed by Anaconda and Lake Placid. **1/2
